Privacy policy
# Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how **SightPhones** collects, uses, and protects your personal
information when you visit our website, place an order, or contact us. It also explains, in
plain terms, what happens to the data the Rokid AI glasses themselves collect when you use
them.
Please read it carefully. By using our website or buying from us, you confirm you have read
and understood this policy.
## 1. Who we are
This store and website are operated by **TYFG VISIONTECH LIMITED**, trading as **SightPhones**,
a company registered in England & Wales (company no. **17188276**), registered office
**180 Sarsen House, Middle Road, London, W7 3FT**.
For the personal information we collect as the seller, **we are the data controller**. You can
reach us about anything in this policy at **support@sightphones.com**.
Our website is hosted by Shopify, which processes personal information on our behalf to provide
the store to you.
## 2. The personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect and process:
- **Contact and order details** — your name, billing and shipping address, email address, and
phone number.
- **Payment information** — handled by our payment processor. We do not store full card
numbers ourselves.
- **Account information** — if you create an account, your login details and saved
preferences.
- **Transaction history** — the items you view, add to your cart, buy, return, or exchange.
- **Communications** — the contents of emails and messages you send us, including support
enquiries.
- **Prescription information** — if you order prescription lenses, the prescription details
you provide so the lenses can be made to your specification. This is treated as sensitive
and used only to fulfil your order.
- **Device and usage information** — your IP address, browser and device type, and how you
navigate the site, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies (see
section 7).
We collect this information directly from you, automatically through your use of the site, and
from service providers acting on our behalf (for example, our payment processor and shipping
carriers).
## 3. How we use your information, and our lawful bases
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal information. We rely on
the following:
- **To perform our contract with you** — processing and delivering your order, taking payment,
handling returns and warranty claims, and managing your account. *(Lawful basis: performance
of a contract.)*
- **To make prescription lenses to your specification** — using the prescription details you
provide. *(Lawful basis: performance of a contract; for any health-related detail, your
explicit consent given when you place the order.)*
- **To run and improve our business** — site security, fraud prevention, analytics, and
improving the store. *(Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.)*
- **To communicate with you** — responding to enquiries and sending service messages about
your orders. *(Lawful basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interests.)*
- **For marketing** — sending you news and offers, only where you have signed up. You can
unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email. *(Lawful basis: your
consent.)*
- **To meet legal obligations** — such as keeping tax and transaction records, and responding
to lawful requests. *(Lawful basis: legal obligation.)*
## 4. The Rokid AI glasses, the camera, and AI assistants
This section is specific to our product and is important.
The Rokid AI glasses are made by **Rokid**. When you use them, some features capture and
process data on or through the device:
- **Camera and images.** The glasses have a camera. Photos or video you capture, and images
used by visual AI features, are processed to deliver the feature you've asked for. You are
responsible for using the camera lawfully and considerately, and for making people around
you aware when you are recording, as the law in your area requires (see also our
[Terms of Service](/pages/terms)).
- **Voice and AI queries.** Features powered by AI assistants — including **OpenAI (ChatGPT)**
and **Google (Gemini)** — send your voice queries and related content to those providers so
they can return an answer. That processing is carried out by Rokid and the AI providers, and
is governed by **their** privacy policies and terms, not ours.
**SightPhones is the UK seller of the hardware. We do not control or receive the camera, voice,
or AI-query data the device processes in normal use**, and we are not the data controller for
it. To understand and manage that data — including any settings, retention, and your rights —
please refer to the privacy policies of Rokid and of the relevant AI provider, which are made
available with the device and through its app. We mention this here so you know where that data
goes before you buy.
If you contact us for support and choose to share an image, recording, or transcript with us,
we will process it only to resolve your enquiry.
## 5. When we share your information
We share personal information only where necessary, with:
- **Shopify**, which hosts our store and processes data on our behalf;
- our **payment processor**, to take and secure your payment;
- **shipping and fulfilment** partners, to deliver your order;
- **prescription lens** partners, where you order prescription lenses, to fulfil them;
- **email and analytics** providers that help us run the store and, where you've consented,
send you marketing;
- **professional advisers and authorities**, where we are legally required to disclose
information, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal information.
## 6. International transfers
We are a UK business and aim to keep your data within the UK or the European Economic Area.
Some of our service providers (including Shopify) may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where
that happens, we rely on a recognised safeguard — such as the UK International Data Transfer
Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or transfers to a country
the UK government has deemed adequate — so your data keeps an equivalent level of protection.
## 7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your preferences,
understand how the site is used, and — with your consent — for marketing. You can manage your
choices at any time through our **Cookie preferences** link in the footer, and you can control
cookies through your browser settings.
## 8. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it: to fulfil your order and provide
support, to honour warranty and returns periods, and to meet legal and accounting obligations
(for example, we keep transaction records for the period required by UK tax law). When we no
longer need it, we securely delete or anonymise it.
## 9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- **access** the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to **correct** information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to **delete** your information in certain circumstances;
- **object to** or ask us to **restrict** our processing in certain circumstances;
- **withdraw consent** at any time where we rely on it (such as for marketing); and
- ask us to **transfer** your information to another provider (data portability).
To exercise any of these rights, email **support@sightphones.com**. We may need to verify your
identity first, and we will respond within the time limits set by law (usually one month).
Exercising these rights is free, and we will not treat you differently for doing so.
## 10. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at
**support@sightphones.com** so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain
to the UK's data protection regulator, the **Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)**, at
[ico.org.uk](https://ico.org.uk), or by calling its helpline.
## 11. Children
Our store and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information,
contact us and we will delete it.
## 12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the
law. We'll post the updated version here and change the "Effective" date below.
## 13. Contact
